Ch QuietWood Miraculous Decision
"Kelsi"
7/30/02 -
Kelsi is a full littermate to Mira and Hermes from the first Zeus/Mandy litter. I originally placed her in a co-ownship home with someone I allowed to choose between the brindle puppy (Mira) and the fawn (Kelsi). Unable to decide, she even took both puppies home for a couple of weeks before she made her decision--thus her name.

Sadly, that home did not work out and Kelsi returned to QuietWood around age two, thin and very out of condition. I was just getting her back in shape when some of the local Mastiff folks were trying to get enough girls entered for majors in a local show.

My arm was severely twisted and I entered Kelsi and another girl (Titian). Kelsi had showed once at 7 months, but not since, and was in my opinion completely untrained and unprepared for the show. And then, the weekend before this show I fainted in the group ring showing my Spinone and really wrecked my knee. So the friends who had talked me into entering my girls had to help show them. And OOPS, wouldn't you know it, Kelsi got the major on one of the two days, and Titian got it the other day.

All of this was not long after I was diagnosed with the recurrance of thyroid cancer and I really wasn't up to seriously showing Kelsi. Good friend Jackie Spiars (HopeCreek Mastiffs) took Kelsi and continued showing her and took her to the Denver specialty where she placed 4th in the very competitive open fawn class (where little sister Sadie placed 1st and went on to get WB). She also did all of Kelsi's health testing which she passed with flying colors. Thus, Jackie is now Kelsi's primary owner and Kelsi will live out her life at HopeCreek, although I remain a co-owner.

Jackie bred Kelsi in 2006 using 12 yr old frozen semen from her beloved "Slammer." The result was a nice litter of mostly apricot puppies (very unusual). She kept her pick boy "Slugger" and I kept a girl, "Faith." Several puppies from that litter have already begun their show careers.
Kelsi was bred but alas, no puppies. We aren't sure if we'll try again or not. But her sister "Purdy" has puppies sired by our import from Bredwardine kennels. Contact us for more information.
